Watershed and Stormwater Management
Cardno ENTRIX watershed and stormwater professionals work at the forefront of sustainable environmental management to empower communities and clients to follow Smart Growth pathways. We integrate our ecology, stream restoration, and environmental planning and compliance practices to plan and develop Green Infrastructure. Unmanaged, high-impact development and the potential effects of climate change can lead to groundwater saturation in residential areas, fill and loss of wetlands and critical areas, constraints on growth, stormwater contaminants to local watersheds, and high costs to local government and landowners. Cardno ENTRIX solutions guide future development, reduce costs and impacts, offer a framework for low impact stormwater management and reduced contamination, restore and enhance rivers and wetlands, create open spaces, green networks, and corridors for people and wildlife, and improve aesthetics, recreation and quality of life.
Cardno ENTRIX has worked extensively in multi-stakeholder settings to assist water resource managers and watershed planning groups in creating workable plans at watershed scales. These projects usually address issues that are decades in the making—such as conflicts over the use and conservation of surface and ground water; instream flows; water quality; management of stormwater; wetlands and other sensitive habitats; species recovery, water supply; and water and property rights.
We assist clients with watershed management and implementation plans, watershed stormwater improvement master plans, stream and biological inventories and problem area assessments, and the development and design of natural system-based water quality improvement measures and Best Management Practices (BMPs). Cardno ENTRIX is also actively engaged in some of the most significant water quality issues, such as nutrient standards, total maximum daily loads (TMDLs), water quality trading, and quantifying economic and ecosystem benefits.
