Water Supply Planning and Permitting

Planning for sustainable, cost effective water supplies is increasingly difficult, as permitting requirements become more complex, costs escalate, and available water resources dwindle.  To overcome these challenges, thoughtful and innovative water supply planning is critical. For over 25 years, Cardno ENTRIX has been engaged in the supply planning and comprehensive permitting of water projects across the country—helping address issues related to the withdrawal, storage, delivery, use, reuse, and conservation of water as well as the protection of watersheds.

Cardno ENTRIX gives clients access to an integrated team of environmental, planning, scientific, permitting, hydrologic, economic, and engineering professionals.  We are experienced in working with municipalities, industries, and agricultural interests to assess current and future water supply demands, identify and assess the feasibility of all potential water supply options, develop storage and conveyance options, and conceptualize and implement comprehensive water conservation programs.  Cardno ENTRIX is nationally recognized in environmental flow science and management, and the balancing and resolution of instream and out-of-stream uses and solutions to reservoir-streamflow issues.  Our staff routinely advises clients on alternatives and different approaches during the planning, permitting and project acquisition processes, helps with agency negotiations and the preparation of NEPA and state-level compliance documentation.  Additionally, Cardno ENTRIX is working with a number of clients to reduce their overall water “footprint.” Our goal is to provide our clients with sustainable, cost-effective solutions that balance environmental protection, society’s needs, and the productive use of water.
