Human Health & Environmental Exposure Assessments for Major Surfactant Categories
Summary: Cardno ENTRIX conducted human health and environmental exposure assessments for REACh registration of two major surfactant categories.
The client was a consultant representing a consortium including some of the highest profile global manufactures of washing and cleaning products and their chemical components. The client supplied Cardno ENTRIX with IUCLID information and draft chemical safety reports for the surfactants being registered. Cardno ENTRIX worked hand-in-hand with consortium member technical staff, running Tier I human health and environmental risk assessments for approximately 40 different use scenarios using ECETOC TRA and CONSEXPO.
Tier II environmental assessments, performed using EUSES, were needed on approximately one-third of the Tier I assessments in order to pass the threshold for safety. In some instances during Tier II assessments, Cardno ENTRIX used measured field data provided by the client to achieve acceptable levels of risk. Cardno ENTRIX prepared the exposure and risk portions (Chapters 9 and 10) of the CSRs for both surfactanats within the very tight schedule of six weeks and within the allotted project budget.
