Phase 3 BLM LV Land Disposal Boundary EIS
Client: Cities of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Summary: The Cities of Las Vegas and North Las Vegas are currently considering the set-aside of lands for conservation over and above the currently planned set-aside for an area known as the Conservation Transfer Area (CTA). If the boundaries of the CTA are expanded, residential development currently planned on that land is expected to take place instead in satellite communities. The Economics Group of Cardno ENTRIX was retained to complete an economic analysis of environmental effects of setting aside the additional land by estimating the dollar values of environmental losses expected from the additional land set-aside. The environmental losses studied included those impacts stemming from additional transportation that is expected when workers live farther away from the urban core; expected environmental losses; and possible additional impacts that could arise if the displaced development occurs at lower densities than the proposed ?in town? densities.
