Economic Analysis of Water Supply Reductions in the Eastern San Joaquin Valley of California

Summary: The University of California analyzed the impacts of permanent water reductions to irrigators in the eastern San Joaquin Valley utilizing the then-current Central Valley Production Model (CVPM). Cardno ENTRIX, was retained by Friant Water Users Authority to conduct a parallel analysis utilizing assumptions believed to be more representative of hydrologic conditions in the area. Cardno ENTRIX modified the coding of the CVPM to reflect more reasonable groundwater conditions and utilized the output of the model to analyze the regional economic impacts of the reductions in water supplies.
