Biotechnical Engineering Design Services Agua Fria Creek

Client: Alameda County Flood Control & Water Conservation District

Location: Alameda County, CA

Summary: Cardno ENTRIX is currently providing engineering, geotechnical, and biological services for creek restoration projects in western Alameda County. These creeks provide stormwater conveyance of runoff from the adjacent urban areas and upper watersheds, and are managed by the District as flood control facilities. To implement responsible creek stewardship, the District's goal is to restore and improve the natural conditions in these segments by stabilizing the channel and protecting and/or enhancing biological resources, while maintaining flood conveyance and public safety. The overall objective is to reestablish stability of the unstable channel segments using geomorphic principles and biotechnical engineering solutions. We are evaluating design alternatives; preparing plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates for the restoration of Agua Fria Creek and Mission Creek.
