Injection wells have commonly been used in the petroleum industry and for disposal of municipal and industrial wastewater.  In recent years, injection well technology has been applied to aquifer recharge and aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) processes.  ENTRIX  has extensive experience in all applications of injection well technology and provides a blend of specialized talent and experience that is unique within the industry.

Regulatory Expertise
Permitting an injection well requires professional scientists, geologists, hydrogeologists, and engineers who are experienced with the different regulatory processes associated with all types of injection wells. Disposal wells must be demonstrated to meet strict regulatory requirements regarding the migration of the injected fluids.  Today’s application of injection well rules to ASR using non-potable waters often requires complex computer modeling. Our modeling team has extensive experience evaluating reservoir pressure buildup, solute transport, and fluid constituent migration. Our recent successes in permitting non-potable ASR have focused on the transport of injected and native water during the recharge and recovery activities. We are now bringing a new and creative understanding to the implementation of the ASR technology using non-potable waters.

Injection Well Rehabilitation
ENTRIX offers innovative services in the remediation and repair of injection wells, where well plugging is a common problem. Our services can be provided on a turn-key basis. Such work can include well work-over such as chemical stimulation, screen replacement, or well recompletion, depending on the type of problem being experienced.

Aquifer Recharge Wells
Injection wells are used to create salt water intrusion barriers in areas where the resource is threatened by salt water and also in areas where over-pumpage of groundwater has reduced groundwater levels and aquifer yield.  Such recharge wells are commonly affected by plugging problems due to chemical, biological, and particulate issues. ENTRIX has extensive experience in designing recharge systems to minimize the effects of well plugging and has developed new techniques to rehabilitate wells that have experienced plugging problems due to injection.
