ENTRIX Nisqually River Log-crib Project Makes the News

The August 30, 2010 edition of the News Tribune in Mt. Rainier, WA featured a log-crib structure that ENTRIX designed to improve the roadway embankment along the Nisqually River. Cardno Posts Record Profit, Increases Dividend

Global infrastructure services consultancy Cardno Limited (ASX: CDD), today announced a record net profit after tax of $37.60 million for the year ended 30 June 2010, a 10.1% increase over the 2009 financial year. Basic earnings per share increased to 43.86 cents. Cardno had strong operating cash flow of $46.75 million in 2010, an increase of 21% over 2009, and had cash of $56.28 million at 30 June 2010. The company's balance sheet remains strong with low net debt. In August, the company completed a successful Rights issue raising $49 million. The Board has declared a fully franked final dividend of 15 cents per share to be paid on 15 October 2010 to all shareholders registered on 17 September 2010. With the interim dividend of 14 cents per share in March 2010, this will result in a full year dividend of 29 cents, which is also a record for Cardno. ... more >>

Cardno ENTRIX Selenium Project Makes the News

The August 13, 2010 edition of the Mining Journal featured one of the studies that Cardno ENTRIX and Michigan State University are conducting in support of a national pollutant discharge elimination system (NPDES) permitting project for Cliffs Natural Resources (Cliffs). Elevated concentrations of selenium have been detected in waters that are discharged from the Michigan Operations of Cliffs, and Cardno ENTRIX is leading the ecological studies that are being conducted for the permit renewal process. Selenium is an essential nutrient; however, exposure to excess amounts can result in adverse effects to the environment. Based on other selenium studies, the embryos of egg-laying vertebrate species such as fish and birds are known to be sensitive to selenium. In addition to the waterfowl and passerine hatching study, the Cliffs team is also conducting hatching studies for several species of fish, and is evaluating the quality of the aquatic communities in the streams ... more >>

Cardno ENTRIX Welcomes Jeff Mengler

Cardno ENTRIX is pleased to announce that Jeff Mengler has joined the team in our Barrington, IL office as a Senior Project Scientist. Mr. Mengler is a botanist and wetland ecologist with experience in watershed planning, wetland delineation, storm water management, listed species surveys and permitting. During his 18-year tenure at the US Fish and Wildlife Service field office, he was the lead advisor for the development of the Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) for the federally-endangered Hine's emerald dragonfly, contributed to the Recovery Plan for that species, and was the and co-chair of the mitigation working group for the I-355 extension project. Mr. Mengler also authored a Native Plant Guide and Advanced Identification of significant wetlands in Kane and McHenry Counties. He will continue in his leadership roles with the Fox River Ecosystem Partnership and Chicago Wilderness, where he has chaired Habitat Restoration, Natural Resources Management, and Green Infrastructure initiatives. ... more >>
