The National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) honored Cardno ENTRIX with its Best Available Technology Award for our City of Marco Island ASR Project on April 27th at their National Conference in Denver. This is the third national award this project has received in the past year for engineering excellence. The project was conceived and developed by Mark Pearce and Lloyd Horvath of the Fort Myers office and built in stages over the last 10 years. The project involved a highly sophisticated aquifer storage and recovery (ASR) system—notably the first of its kind to efficiently store partially treated surface water in a highly brackish aquifer while obtaining efficient recovery. The system captures excess surface water flows from a canal during the wet season and stores the water as partially treated fresh water in a very brackish aquifer.
